Exploring Nusantara in One Table: The Story of Taste Behind Wyndham Culinary Journey
JAKARTA - What if the warmth of Surabaya's typical Soto Rawon, the aroma of Iga Bakar Palembang, and the freshness of Bali's Sambal Matah meet in one series of journeys? There's no need to travel around Indonesia to experience it, because Travel + Leisure Co. has just inaugurated the "Wyndham Culinary Journey" - a celebration of flavors that brings local culinary heritage to the table of five Wyndham hotels in Indonesia.
Starting January 2026, guests are invited to taste a cultural narrative through ten carefully curated iconic dishes. Not just a menu, each plate is a love letter to the traditions of Jakarta, Palembang, Surabaya, and Bali.
From Jakarta: The Touch of Bakar that Captivates
The journey of taste begins from the capital. Wyndham Casablanca Jakarta presents Maranggi Grilled Tail, where the cow's tail is slowly roasted until the meat seems to melt in the mouth, paired with a thick savory broth. Not to be outdone, there is Sari Laut Bakar Dabu-Dabu which combines fresh squid and shrimp with a sweet spicy "explosion" of Manado's signature sambal.
Bali: Harmony of Spices and Natural Freshness
Crossing to the Island of the Gods, two Wyndham resorts provide a different interpretation of the delicacy:
Wyndham Tamansari Jivva Resort: Presenting Jivva Fried Duck that is crispy with yellow seasoning, complete with fresh Sambal Matah. Interestingly, they also serve Moringa Miso Soup, a nutritious fusion dish that combines ginger and seafood broth.
Wyndham Garden Kuta Beach: For those who love light seafood dishes, the perfectly steamed snapper with sambal matah is the main choice. There is also Grilled Lamb Leg served with sweet and savory sauce to close the day on the beach.
Palembang: Aroma Rempah yang Menenangkan
From the land of Sumatra, Wyndham Opi Hotel Palembang presents Nasi Minyak Iga Bakar. The fragrant rice cooked with butter and selected spices is perfectly combined with fresh pineapple sambal. Don't miss Laksan, a dish made from tenggiri fish that swims in a savory coconut sauce with a little spicy touch that warms the soul.
Surabaya: Legend in a Bowl of Black Soup
The journey ends in East Java through the creation of Wyndham Surabaya City Centre. They give a unique touch to Rawon Misoa, where the legendary black keluak sauce meets soft misoa. As a complement, Tahu Campur with a tempting petis aroma is ready to pamper the tongues of traditional culinary lovers.
"Feelings that Connect the Heart"
Indra Budiman, Area General Manager of Indonesia Travel + Leisure Co., explained that this initiative was born from the belief that food is a universal language to create comfort.
"Every dish we serve brings warmth like at home. We want all these dishes to make guests feel the richness of Indonesian traditions and the spirit of togetherness," said Indra.
Now, staying at Wyndham is not just a matter of resting, but about tasting the richness of Indonesian culture. Through Wyndham Culinary Journey, every meal is a reminder of how "Infinite" (unlimited) the richness of taste this country has.
