Brooklyn Beckham: I Don't Want to Be at Peace with My Family

JAKARTA - Brooklyn Beckham finally spoke up about the conflict between him and his parents, David Beckham and Victoria. They have been at loggerheads for a long time even though both parties have never spoken in public.

The conflict began when it was reported that Victoria Beckham, a designer, refused to make a wedding dress for her future daughter-in-law, Nicola Peltz. Victoria canceled the plan just hours before they were married.

Monday, January 19 local time, Brooklyn wrote a post on Instagram Story to explain the conflict between himself and his parents.

"I've been silent for years and made this a private matter, but unfortunately my parents and his team always go to the media so I have no choice but to speak up," wrote Brooklyn Beckham.

"I don't want to make peace with my family. I'm not in control, I'm defending myself for the first time in my life. My whole life, my parents controlled the narrative in the media," he said.

Furthermore, he said his parents tried to destroy their marriage. He even revealed that his parents had asked him to sign a name right that would later affect his family.

"My parents kept trying to break up my relationship before I got married and it didn't stop. My mother canceled Nicola's dress at 11 o'clock, even though she was looking forward to wearing her design, which eventually forced her to find a new dress," he said.

Brooklyn and Nicola married at Nicola's family's Palm Beach property in April 2022. Nicola wore a wedding dress from Valentino Haute Couture.

He also said his parents continued to avoid Nicola who was his wife. Their conflict emerged further after Brooklyn and Nicola did not attend David Beckham's 50th birthday party in 2025. Brooklyn also stopped following his parents' Instagram accounts.

Brooklyn said that they had arrived in London a week before the event and wanted to meet his parents. David Beckham then agreed on the condition that Nicola should not attend the meeting.

"I was controlled by my parents for my whole life. I grew up with an excess of worry," he said again.

"My wife and I don't want to live a life shaped by images, media, or manipulation. All we want is peace, privacy, and happiness for us and our families," concluded Brooklyn Beckham.

Meanwhile, David and Victoria Beckham have not spoken out about the claims made by Brooklyn Beckham.
