Diperluas Transformation, InJourney Targets Five Airports This Year
JAKARTA - The aviation and tourism BUMN holding InJourney continues the agenda of airport transformation in 2026.
After completing a massive renovation at Soekarno-Hatta Airport and I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, InJourney is preparing to expand a similar program to a number of other airports in Indonesia.
InJourney's President Director Maya Watono said that transforming the airport was the company's focus in the fourth year of the holding's establishment.
The changes are made comprehensively, ranging from facilities, appearance, to service quality.
"So we who were Soekarno-Hatta and Ngurah Rai last year, this year hopefully 5 to 7 of our airports will be transformed," said Maya at the InJourney Office, Jakarta, written on Tuesday, January 20.
Maya revealed that Juanda Airport in Surabaya and Kualanamu Airport in North Sumatra were included in the list of airports to be transformed. The concept carried out is still the same as in Soetta and Ngurah Rai, namely prioritizing the principles of green and culture.
"So there is Surabaya, there is Kualanamu, and the five largest airports," he said.
Apart from Juanda and Kualanamu, InJourney still has the names of other airports that will be touched by the transformation program. Maya said the official announcement would be made in the near future.
"Currently, InJourney manages 37 airports through InJourney Airports. Once there is a case, a good case, there is positive news, and it can be replicated to other airports. And there are still 35 more," said Maya.
4,000 CO2 Emissions Equivalent Reduction
Not only focusing on services and infrastructure, InJourney also targets a carbon emission reduction target of up to 4,000 tons of CO2 equivalent by 2026.
One of the steps is by increasing the use of solar power plants (PLTS) at airports managed.
Maya said similar efforts were also carried out in the hospitality and tourism sectors under InJourney Hospitality, including waste management, the use of electric vehicles, and social and environmental responsibility (TJSL) programs.
This step is part of InJourney's commitment to encourage a sustainable aviation and tourism industry, as well as increase the competitiveness of national airports on the global stage.
"We are implementing it from various sectors, from airports with solar panels, we will reduce electricity at the airport. Then also from hotel waste management, all our destinations will be converted to EVs," said Maya.
