Alhamdulillah, 3,200 Imams And Mosque Managers In Pekanbaru Get Vaccination

JAKARTA - A total of 3,200 people consisting of religious leaders, imams, and mosque administrators in Pekanbaru City, underwent the COVID-19 vaccine process which was held at the Annur Grand Mosque in Pekanbaru, Sunday, May 30, witnessed by Riau Governor Syamsuar.

"This COVID-19 vaccination is one of the government's tasks for the community, which prioritizes public officials and the elderly. The public officers in question are mosque officials and scholars who interact with the community on a daily basis," Syamsuar said as quoted by Antara.

On that occasion, Syamsuar hoped that vaccination could run well and could maximize public health and this was an effort to resolve the transmission of COVID-19 in Riau Province.

To the fathers or mothers who have been vaccinated now, he said, don't go home right away, wait here for about 15 minutes to see if there is any effect on the body.

"It's easy, this vaccination can work well to cut the morbidity and mortality from the coronavirus," he hoped.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Riau Province, Ilyas said that the target for the COVID-19 vaccination activity for today was 3,200 clerics by targeting all mosque imams, majelis taklim, administrators, ustaz, and clerics in Pekanbaru City.

"This vaccination has been going on for several days and in several places," he said.

Ilyas explained that Pekanbaru City has 1,380 mosques and prayer rooms. From these, they are divided into three categories, namely the plenary mosque consisting of 99 mosques.

From the plenary mosque for this stage, he said, his party asked for representatives of 10 people, bringing the total to 990 people.

"However, the mosques whose imams were given incentives by the Pekanbaru City Government, namely as many as 549 mosques, were represented by three people to 1,647 people. Lastly, the mosques built by the community were 750, and one person was represented per mosque so that 750 people were vaccinated. Thus, The total number of vaccinations completed today is more than 3,000 people," he said.
