JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that the weather in a number of regions in Indonesia on Tuesday will still be dominated by rain with varying intensities, ranging from light to rain accompanied by lightning.

BMKG Praktirawan Sofia N.A through a weather forecast broadcast in Jakarta, Tuesday said that the weather conditions on the island of Sumatra tend to be diverse. Cloudy to cloudy weather is expected to occur in Medan, Padang, Tanjung Pinang, Jambi, Palembang, and Pangkalpinang.

Meanwhile, light rain is potentially occurring in Pekanbaru and Bengkulu. As for the hazy air condition, it is estimated to cover the Banda Aceh area.

"BMKG urges the public to be aware of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning in the Bandar Lampung area," said Sofia.

Turning to Java, Sofia said that the potential for rain accompanied by lightning needed to be watched out for in Surabaya. In addition, moderate intensity rain is predicted to occur in Bandung and Yogyakarta. Meanwhile, light rain has the potential to rain on the Serang, Jakarta, and Semarang areas.

For Kalimantan Island, he continued, BMKG predicts that light rain will occur in Tanjung Selor and Samarinda. Meanwhile, cloudy to cloudy conditions are predicted to cover Pontianak, Palangka Raya, and Banjarmasin.

For Sulawesi Island, BMKG predicts that moderate intensity rain is potentially occurring in Makassar. In addition, light rain is predicted to rain on Palu, Kendari, Mamuju, and Manado. Meanwhile, heavy cloudy conditions are predicted to occur in Gorontalo.

Meanwhile, in the Maluku and Papua regions, heavy cloudy weather is predicted to occur in Ambon, Manokwari, and Jayapura. Light rain is potentially occurring in Ternate, Sorong, and Jayawijaya. Meanwhile, moderate intensity rain is predicted to occur in Nabire, and rain accompanied by lightning should be watched out for in Merauke.
