Central Lombok Records a Reduction in Stunting to 9.86 Percent in 2025

LOMBOK - The Central Lombok Regency Government, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), has recorded a significant decline in stunting rates by 2025. The percentage of stunting in the region is now at 9.86 percent, lower than the national target of 14 percent.

"The stunting rate in Central Lombok has dropped by one digit or about 8,000 toddlers," said Deputy Regent of Central Lombok HM Nursiah in Central Lombok, Monday.

He emphasized that efforts to accelerate the decline in stunting are the responsibility of all stakeholders. Handling is carried out not only during working hours, but also involves various local government organizations (OPD) and village governments outside working hours.

To ensure that the program is effective, the local government regularly evaluates the steps to accelerate the reduction of stunting. This evaluation aims to strengthen the interventions that have been carried out so that the results are more optimal.

"Regular evaluations are carried out periodically," he said.

Although the achievement of stunting in Central Lombok has been below 10 percent, the local government insists that it will not be complacent. Various programs that have been running continue, such as the provision of additional food, child marriage prevention, and other supporting programs.

"No one should be satisfied with this achievement. However, it is a motivation to continue to support the acceleration of stunting reduction in Central Lombok," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Central Lombok Regency Health Office, Suardi, said that the stunting rate in 2025 had decreased compared to the previous year which was recorded at 10.15 percent.

"The total number of stunting children is 8,000 people," he said.

According to Suardi, stunting cases in Central Lombok are still dominated by the impact of child marriage. Most toddlers who experience stunting are born from couples who marry at an early age.

Therefore, he invited the public to play an active role in preventing child marriage practices so that stunting rates can continue to be suppressed. In addition to these factors, parenting patterns and nutritional fulfillment are also causes that need to be given joint attention.

"The causes of stunting are also parenting and nutrition patterns," he said.
