Close Access to Financial Services, BRILink Waisun Agents Become a Focus for People in Papua Mountains
PAPUA - In the midst of limited access to banking services in the Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency, Papua Mountain, BRILink Waisun Agent has become a focus for the surrounding community. Managed by Alfrida Pasongli since 2019, this agent serves the financial transaction needs of the Papuan people, most of whom are farmers and traders.
Alfrida's decision to start her own BRILink Agent business stems from her sensitivity to the needs of the surrounding community. According to him, the location which is far from the bank's office, opens up opportunities to bring financial services closer to residents, as well as to increase family income.
"We initially chose the BRILink Agent business because we wanted to increase our income. In addition, we saw that this area was in the center of market activity, but the location was quite far from the bank's office," said Alfrida.
Despite having developed, Alfrida said that the journey of BRILink Agents managed by him was not always smooth. Various limitations are still a daily challenge, ranging from network stability to conditions in the region that are not always conducive and require extra vigilance. Even so, Alfrida still manages the BRILink Agent he owns with accuracy and patience.
Without distinguishing background, Alfrida continues to serve residents who come from various areas around the Dekai District. For Alfrida, the role of BRILink Agents is not only to carry out transactions, but also to provide a sense of security and certainty of services for the community. Especially for parents, this agent allows them to continue to carry out financial transactions even though bank offices are not operating, including sending funds for children who are studying outside the area.
"Praise God, we have felt many positive impacts, both for families and the community. Village mothers can transact at our kiosks when the bank is closed, in the hope of sending a little sustenance for their children who are studying outside the area. This is a motivation and spirit for us to create jobs for the surrounding community to always work and also be beneficial for some places of worship and schools," he said.
Alfrida's commitment to maintaining access to financial services in areas with various limitations has made her one of the Juragan Agents. Through this role, Alfrida, who now has 4 BRILink Agent outlets, feels the various benefits and support from BRI, ranging from bank officer assistance, pick up service, to limited deposit facilities on holidays and holidays. This support strengthens the role of BRILink Waisun Agent in maintaining the smooth running of financial services for the local community.
"The benefits that are obtained are very many, besides being a priority in the group or community, we also get very good services from every BRI employee," he said.
On a separate occasion, BRI Corporate Secretary Dhanny said that in areas with difficult access to services, the existence of BRILink Agents such as Waisun reflects efforts to expand financial inclusion through the presence of services that are consistent and close to the needs of the community in various conditions.
"In areas with limited access such as Dekai District, the existence of BRILink Agents is an important part of bringing financial services closer to the community. This service not only helps facilitate the activities of citizen transactions, but also supports the strengthening of the local economy through the role of agents in the area," said Dhanny.
