Motul Support Makes Julian Johan Pass 8,000 Km Endurance Test at the 2026 Dakar Rally with Excellence
JAKARTA - The Dakar Rally is known as the most extreme rally event in the world. In the 2026 edition, the global lubricant brand Motul reaffirmed its existence on the international motorsport stage through its status as the Official Partner of the 2026 Dakar Rally.
Not only being an official partner, Motul also gives full support to Indonesian racer Julian Johan to conquer the harsh competition that covers a track of around 8,000 km. This support is an important part of the struggle of Julian Johan, who is familiarly called Jeje.
Jeje faces a route of sand and rocks that drains the physical and vehicle engines. For Jeje, this journey is not only about reaching the finish line, but also carrying big dreams and proving that Indonesian racers are capable of competing at the highest level of world motorsport.
Managing Director of PT Motul Indonesia Energy (MIE) Welmart Purba, said that Motul's collaboration with Julian Johan has been established for the past few years. As Motul Indonesia's brand ambassador, Jeje also received full support when appearing at the 2023 and 2024 Asia Cross Country Rally (AXCR), before finally rising to the biggest challenge, the 2026 Dakar Rally.
"As a trusted partner in the world of motorsport, Motul is fully committed to supporting Julian Johan's steps in the 2026 Dakar Rally. With high-tech lubricant formulations designed for extreme conditions, Motul ensures that engine performance remains optimal at high temperatures, heavy pressure, and mileage up to 8,000 km. This support is not only about products, but about a shared belief to continue to move forward without limits," said Welmart Purba, quoted from the official statement, Monday, January 19.
"The 2026 Dakar Rally is a proving ground for Julian Johan, for Indonesia, and for Motul. Together, we challenge the limits of extreme racing competition, turn every obstacle into an opportunity, and write a new chapter in the history of the world rally and of course the history of the motorsport of the country," he continued.
Meanwhile, Jeje from the beginning targeted to finish and complete all stages of the 2026 Dakar Rally. However, the final result he achieved actually exceeded expectations by recording a major achievement with the first place in the Iconic Class, third place in the H2 class, and ranked fifth overall.
"Until the last day of the Dakar Rally, I managed to get a very good result. Alhamdulillah we got 5th overall, 3rd in the class (H2), and in the Iconic Class we became the first champion," said Jeje.
"I don't know what else to say, thank you God and thank you for all who have supported. It feels like yesterday I saw the Dakar Rally on TV, in magazines and dreamed that one day I could be here (the Dakar Rally). And it turns out that Alhamdulillah with determination, seriousness, keep trying to find a way to finally be here and it all paid off today," continued Jeje.
Jeje's achievement has also become a spotlight and inspiration for the national motorsport world, because finally there is a representative of Indonesia who not only finishes, but is also able to climb the podium in one of the toughest rallies in the world.
"Hopefully the results I get can be an inspiration and a positive thing for us in Indonesia, especially the automotive world, the sports world, and others. Finally, there is an Indonesian who can finish the Dakar Rally," concluded Jeje.
In this event, Jeje relies on the legendary Toyota Land Cruiser 100 car and is known for its toughness and long-distance rally character. This car relies on the typical body on frame construction of the Land Cruiser, combined with a famous 4.5-liter six-cylinder engine that is stubborn and rich in torque at low revs.
The full-time four-wheel drive system with low range ensures traction is maintained in deep sand and rocky paths. Meanwhile, the heavy duty suspension and cooling system that is strengthened on the Dakar Classic specification make the car able to survive for long periods without compromise.
