Collaboration with a Blind Musician in the Single Tak Kancani, Ndarboy Genk Back to Zero Point

JAKARTA - Ndarboy Genk celebrates his birthday in a different way. The 31-year-old musician released a reflective and meaningful song titled Tak Kancani on January 14, 2026, coinciding with his birthday.

This single is not intended as a celebration, but as a gift to accompany the listener in any situation, especially when in a difficult condition.

This song is inspired by Ndarboy Genk's experience meeting disabled friends, especially blind musicians who daily play in Yogyakarta. From there, he actually found a mirror that reflected back the way he looked at life and work.

"I often see blind friends playing, their income is uncertain, but they can enjoy their lives, always cheerful. Then I saw myself who might still often complain. From there I realized the spirit and sincerity in making music and then I poured it into this song," said Ndarboy Genk in a written statement received by VOI, January 19.

For his latest work, Ndarboy Genk collaborated with a blind musician from Yogyakarta, Fauzi Haidi. The two were involved in an intense creative process, in which Fauzi provided a lot of input in composing his musical arrangements.

Thanks to the creativity and chemistry, Tak Kancani presents itself as a collaboration that is equal, organic, and gives space for Ndarboy and Fauzi to learn from each other.

"This song is not about money, viral goals, not to look for gimmicks. For me, this is a form of solidarity and support for disabled friends. I want this song to be the soundtrack of many people's lives, especially when they are having a heavy burden, sick, or feeling alone," said Ndarboy.

"It feels like I'm reminded again that working must be sincere. After this collaboration, I'm like going back to zero again. About sustenance, about whether this song is accepted or not, that's the business of the Almighty," he added.

Along with the release of the song, the Official Lyrics Video for "Tak Kancani" was also released on the same day through the Ndarboy Genk YouTube channel. This lyric video features Ndarboy Genk and Fauzi Haidi's journey in Suriname.

The journey to Suriname presents another layer in this release. As we know, there are so many Javanese diaspora living there. In the midst of geographical distance and generational differences, Ndarboy Genk brings Javanese pop music as a bridge to foster brotherhood while taking care of Javanese culture for the younger generation of Suriname.

"Surinamese people who are old are still fluent in Javanese, but their young people have started to use it less. I came to Suriname with one simple hope, that the Javanese in Suriname will not lose their language and cultural roots. Music can be the most effective way to remind them," explained Ndarboy Genk.

Tak Kancani is not only present as a song, but also as part of an effort to care for identity. That wherever you are, language and culture can still be home.
