Noel Admits to Being 'Saved' by the KPK in the Alleged K3 Certificate Extortion Case
JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Manpower for the period 2024-2025 Immanuel Ebenezer Gerungan admitted that he felt "saved" by investigators of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) regarding the alleged extortion case in the management of K3 certificates in the Ministry of Manpower.
According to Immanuel, if he is still outside of detention while the legal process is underway, he does not know what his fate will be in the future.
"Friends know how the entrepreneurs I have questioned and resisted. That's why I said there are parties and organizations," said Immanuel when met before the reading of the indictment at the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court, Antara, Monday, January 19.
He also expressed his gratitude to the KPK investigators for admitting that he had not experienced inhumane treatment during his detention. In fact, Immanuel said that his condition was actually getting healthier while in detention.
"Alhamdulillah my condition is good while in detention. I'm getting fatter, fresher because of the food, vitamins, and nutrients provided," he said.
He also assessed that the prison officers carried out their duties professionally and responsibly.
"The responsibility of the prison guard is extraordinary, it fits all. What does not fit is our inner needs," he said.
Meanwhile, the Corruption Eradication Commission suspects that the extortion value carried out by Immanuel Ebenezer together with 10 other suspects in the management of K3 certificates at the Ministry of Manpower reached Rp. 201 billion.
KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said the figure was obtained from the results of searching the accounts of the suspects for the period 2020-2025.
"In the investigation of this case, namely from the identification by investigators through the accounts of the suspects, the alleged extortion carried out reached Rp. 201 billion," said Budi in Jakarta, Thursday, December 18.
Budi added that the value did not include alleged cash or in the form of goods, such as cars, motorcycles, facilities for departure for the hajj and umrah, and other facilities.
Previously, on August 22, the KPK named Immanuel Ebenezer along with 10 other people as suspects in the alleged extortion case related to the management of K3 certificates in the Ministry of Home Affairs.
On the same day, Immanuel hoped to receive amnesty from President Prabowo Subianto. However, he was removed from his position as Deputy Minister of Manpower.
