Yamaha YZF-R9 Model 2026 and Limited Edition 70 Years Launched in Japan, Here's the Price
JAKARTA - Yamaha Motor Corporation officially announced the launch of the 2026 YZF-R9 ABS in Japan. This mid-class supersport motorcycle has been refreshed with new color options for the standard model.
As reported by Greatbikers, Monday, January 19, Yamaha also presents the YZF-R9 70th Anniversary Edition ABS as a limited edition to celebrate Yamaha's 70th anniversary. Interestingly, this celebratory version is only produced 200 units.
The YZF-R9 is an 888cc supersport that carries a liquid-cooled DOHC 4-valve inline three-cylinder engine. The basis was developed from the MT-09, but has been recalibrated and structurally optimized to focus more on the maximum needs of sport driving.
In terms of design, this motorcycle is equipped with a lightweight Delta Box aluminum frame and winglets to improve aerodynamics. Yamaha also installed a series of modern electronic technologies, ranging from 6-axis IMU, multi-mode driving assistance systems, to high-performance braking from Brembo.
The equipment makes it flexible for various needs, whether for use on circuits, touring, or daily use. For the 2026 model year, the standard version of the YZF-R9 ABS comes in a new color Deep Purplish Blue Metallic C combined with the latest graphics.
The design emphasizes the clean and sharp body lines, as well as the cyan accent under the logo which gives a modern and aggressive impression. Meanwhile, the YZF-R9 70th Anniversary Edition ABS comes with a special Bluish White Pearl 1 color and red-white graphics that reflect the character of Yamaha racing motorcycles in the past.
Apart from looking different, this edition is a target because it carries historical value as well as strong collection potential. In Japan, Yamaha is scheduled to launch the YZF-R9 70th Anniversary Edition ABS on January 30, 2026 with a price of 1,595,000 yen or equivalent to Rp. 170 million.
Meanwhile, the standard YZF-R9 ABS will follow on May 15, 2026, priced at 1,496,000 yen or Rp159 million. As an overview of its specifications, the 2026 Yamaha YZF-R9 ABS is equipped with a 888cc three-cylinder in-line engine with 120 hp at 10,000 rpm and 93 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm.
This motorcycle has a seat height of 830 mm, a weight of 195 kg, a tank of 14 liters, and a WMTC fuel consumption of 20.9 km/liter. All units are produced in Japan, this update also strengthens Yamaha's position in the supersport segment.
