Indonesia Is The General Champion Of Wushu Taolu
MANILA - The Indonesian wushu national team became the overall champion in the sport of wushu in Taolu or art at the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines, Tuesday, December 3. Indonesia met the target by winning two gold medals and two silver medals.
Indonesia's first gold medal was donated by Edgar Xavier Marvelo from the Taolu Daoshu / Gunshu combination number. In the wushu arena which occupies the World Trade Center, Manila, Edgar earned the highest point, namely 19.36.
Edgar beat Singaporean Jowen Si Wei Lim, who won 19.32 points and earned a silver medal. Meanwhile, Vietnam athlete Xuan Hiep Tran won the bronze medal.
Indonesia's second gold medal was secured by Edgar who was paired with Seraf Naro Siregar and Harris Horatius in the Taolu Duilian number. The Indonesian wushu trio collected 9.54 points, ahead of the Brunei Darussalam team which won silver with 9.50 points and the Philippines in third place with 9.49 points.
"With Taolu's overall performance we are quite satisfied, with the target that has been charged for gold, and we have fulfilled that," said head coach of the Indonesian wushu team Novita in Manila, reported Antara.
Meanwhile, two silver medals for Indonesia were contributed by Harris Horatius from Nandao / Nangun and Nanquan numbers. Indonesia actually had the chance to win a gold medal on the first day, but Edgar, who performed well in the Changquan event, received a cut from the jury, so that he was thrown into fourth place.
After the nine Taolu numbers were held, Indonesia became the overall champion in Taolu with two gold and two silver, while the Philippines came in second with two gold, one silver and two bronze. Malaysia is in third place with two gold and one silver.
