Floods in Pekalongan and Jalarta, PT KAI Daop 9 Carry Out Pattern Engineering Operations

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daop 9 Jember is engineering the pattern of train operations due to flooding that is increasingly widespread at several points on the train track in Pekalongan and Jakarta on Sunday.

"The flood conditions in a number of KAI operational areas show an increase with the affected points increasing at several track locations, especially in the Daop 4 Semarang and Daop 1 Jakarta areas," said Legal and Public Relations Manager of Daop 9 Cahyo Widiantoro in Jember.

According to him, this condition has a direct impact on the smooth running of the train because the high rainfall and waterlogging on the railway line make it impossible for some lines to be safely passed.

"KAI continues to carry out intensive monitoring and thorough technical inspections to ensure travel safety because travel safety and train passengers are the top priority," he said.

As the number of flood points increases and the potential for delays is high, KAI carries out engineering patterns of operations, including route diversion, speed restrictions, and cancellation of train travel so that safety risks can be avoided.

As part of the handling efforts, he continued, KAI deployed infrastructure and facilities officers to normalize the track, strengthen the rail road body, and coordinate intensively with various related parties, including local governments, regional authorities, and other technical institutions in handling the impact of floods around the rail line.

"Based on the latest operational evaluation, there are several trains departing from the Daop 9 Jember area that are affected, namely the Pandalungan train and the Blambangan Express train," he said.

For the departure of the train on January 18, 2026 from the Daop 9 Jember area, the Blambangan Express train with departure from Ketapang Station to Pasarsenen Station was canceled, while the Pandalungan train departing from Jember Station to Gambir Station was adjusted to an estimated departure time of 16.30 (or 30 minutes late) due to the arrival of the train set from Gambir Station at 15.10 (late 370 minutes).

"Furthermore, because the track conditions are not yet possible to be safely passed, the Pandalungan train trip has adjusted the operating pattern through Surabaya Pasarturi, Gambringan, Solo, Kroya, and Cirebon," he said.

Cahyo said KAI apologized to all passengers for the inconvenience caused by the flood disaster and as a form of responsibility to passengers, KAI provided a 100 percent refund of the ticket fee in accordance with the provisions.

The return of the ticket fee can be carried out with the following provisions, namely no later than 7 days from the date of cancellation and customers who are not willing to continue their journey due to route changes, engineering of operating patterns, or the impact of delays are entitled to receive a 100 percent fee refund, including for through tickets or round-trip tickets managed by the KAI Group.

"The return of the ticket fee can be done through the station counter and Contact Center 121," he said.

Submission through the Contact Center 121 can be done through the call and VOIP services on the Access by KAI application, specifically for the return of 100 percent duty.

"KAI is committed to continue providing the latest information to the public as the handling progresses on the ground. We appreciate the understanding and patience of customers in the midst of these extreme weather conditions," he said.
