Hans Zimmer Was Hired to Score the Harry Potter Series

Legendary Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer has officially been tapped to score the upcoming Harry Potter series, which will air on HBO.

In this ambitious project, Zimmer is not working alone, but bringing his music collective company, Bleeding Fingers Music, to revive the magical feel of the Hogwarts school in a longer screen format.

The series, which is scheduled to air in 2027, will refer to J.K. Rowling's seven novels. HBO plans to divide each book, from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone to Deathly Hallows, into its own season.

The move was taken to give room for details of the story that may have been missed in the big screen version.

Zimmer's presence is expected to bring a new color without losing the essence of nostalgia that has been firmly attached to the hearts of fans for decades.

Hans Zimmer together with Bleeding Fingers Music composers, Kara Talve and Anže Rozman, revealed their pride and great responsibility in working on this project.

"The legacy of the 'Harry Potter' music is a benchmark for composers everywhere and we are humbled to join an incredible team on such a massive project," Zimmer said, quoted by Variety, Sunday, January 18.

He emphasized that the responsibility to work on the Harry Potter series' background music with Talve and Rozman was not something easy.

"Miracles are all around us, often just out of reach, but like in the world of Harry Potter, you have to look for them. With this music, we hope to bring audiences a little closer to those miracles while respecting what has come before," added the 68-year-old composer.

Historically, the Harry Potter film music has been filled with a row of top composers in the world. John Williams laid the iconic foundation through the first three films, followed by Patrick Doyle in the fourth film, Nicholas Hooper for the fifth and sixth films, and Alexandre Desplat who closed the saga.

Now, Bleeding Fingers, which Zimmer founded a decade ago, is challenged to redesign the sound identity of the wizarding world to fit the longer-running television format.

Hans Zimmer's name is currently in the spotlight in the global film industry. Currently, he is on the Oscar shortlist thanks to his work on the F1 film.

In addition to Harry Potter, the German composer's musical touch will also soon be heard in the latest season of the series Euphoria and the science fiction film Dune: Part Three.

So far, the main cast has also been confirmed. The Harry Potter character will be played by Dominic McLaughlin, while Arabella Stanton plays Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. All three are newcomers.

In addition, the series is also strengthened by veteran actors such as John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Janet McTeer who will play Professor McGonagall.
