BMKG Forecasts Heavy Rain for Most of Indonesia

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that most areas in Indonesia will still be hit by rain with varying intensities on Sunday.

BMKG Praktirawan Henokhvita through a weather forecast broadcast in Jakarta, Sunday, said that the weather in the Sumatra Island area varied, ranging from light rain that could occur in Medan, Padang, Bengkulu, and Pangkalpinang.

Meanwhile, cloudy to cloudy conditions are expected to occur in Banda Aceh, Pekanbaru, Jambi, and Tanjung Pinang.

"The public is urged to be alert to the potential for rain accompanied by lightning in Palembang and Bandar Lampung," said Henokhvita.

On Java, Henokhvita said that the potential for rain accompanied by lightning should be watched out for in Jakarta and Surabaya. In addition, moderate intensity rain is expected to occur in Serang and Yogyakarta. Meanwhile, light rain is potentially occurring in the Bandung and Semarang areas.

On the island of Kalimantan, he continued, the BMKG predicts that light rain will fall on Tanjung Selor, Samarinda, and Palangkaraya. Meanwhile, cloudy to cloudy conditions are predicted to occur in Pontianak.

"BMKG also reminds of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning in the Banjarmasin area," he said.

Furthermore, in the Bali and Nusa Tenggara regions, BMKG urges the public to be aware of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning in Denpasar and Kupang. Meanwhile, light rain is predicted to occur in Mataram.

On the island of Sulawesi, BMKG predicts that cloudy to cloudy conditions are likely to occur in Gorontalo, Manado, and Palu. Meanwhile, light rain is predicted to occur in Makassar, Mamuju, and Kendari.
