Train Journey Back Cancelled due to Pekalongan Flood
SEMARANG - The journey of a number of trains on the northern line of Central Java was canceled following the flood that hit the railway line between Pekalongan Station and Sragi Station, in the Pekalongan area, today.
The Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Daop 4 Semarang Luqman Arif in Semarang, Sunday, said that the rain that hit the Pekalongan area caused the water level to rise again since Saturday night, January 17, 2026.
He said the water level that flooded reached 10 to 13 cm above the rail head.
"The road is flooded again, even though the water level is gradually receding," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, January 18.
A number of trains departing from various stations in the Semarang Daop area, including the Kaligung train, the Kamandaka train, the Argo Sindoro train, the Argo Muria train, the Tawangjaya Premium train, the Ambarawa Express train, and the Tegal Bahari train.
In addition to canceling a number of trips, he continued, PT KAI also implemented a rotating operating pattern for a number of trains.
The trains that must turn through the Southern line include the Argo Bromo Anggrek train. Sembrani train, Jayabaya train, and Pandalungan train.
He said that the cancellation of travel and the pattern of operating turns was carried out as the main priority for the safety of train travel.
PT KAI, he continued, continues to coordinate with various stakeholders to monitor the development of conditions in the field.
He said based on the results of monitoring, the flood puddle did not cause any damage to the construction of the railway.
Previously, flooding had flooded the railway line between Pekalongan Station and Sragi Station since Saturday, January 17, 2026 in the morning.
The line returned to normal on Saturday afternoon as the flood receded.
However, the rain that hit the Pekalongan area again since Saturday evening caused the railway line on the section to be flooded again this Sunday.
