Search for a Farmer Missing in the Kedungdowo Pati River is hampered by the River's Strong Current

JAKARTA - The search efforts for a resident of Perdopo Village, Gunungwungkal District, Pati Regency, who was suspected of being swept away in the Kedungdowo River continued. On the fifth day, the Gunungwungkal Police together with the ranks of the Pati Police again led the integrated search operation, Saturday, January 17, 2026.

The victim is known as Sudi (52), a farmer from Perdopo Village. Since he was reported missing a few days ago, the police have consistently coordinated the search with TNI elements, Basarnas, BPBD, volunteers, and local people along the Kedungdowo River.

The head of the Pati Police through the head of the Gunungwungkal Police, AKP Sukarno, said that the continuation of the search on the fifth day was a follow-up to the evaluation of the results of the fourth day's operation. The search was again focused from the starting point to the mouth of the river to ensure that no area was missed.

"Since the fifth day yesterday until the fifth day today, we continue to maximize the search together with all elements. The search method has been expanded, starting from the Sambiroto TPI in Tayu District to the river mouth," said AKP Sukarno, in a statement received, Sunday, January 18, 2026.

AKP Sukarno explained that the joint team involved consisted of personnel from the Pati Police, Gunungwungkal Police, Koramil, Basarnas, BPBD, volunteers, and the surrounding community. This cross-sector synergy continues to be strengthened from day to day to increase the effectiveness of the search.

However, until the fifth day of the search, the victim has still not been found. The main obstacle in the field is still the same as the previous day, namely the fast river flow, murky water, and unpredictable weather.

"The current is quite strong and the limited visibility is still a serious challenge. In addition, the dredging in the estuary area also makes it difficult to maneuver the search boat," explained AKP Sukarno.

The search was temporarily stopped at 17.00 WIB due to the dark conditions and continued with a consolidation appeal for evaluation. The police ensured that the search operation would continue until the victim was found.

"As long as the victim has not been found, we will continue to work together with the joint team. This is our form of responsibility and commitment to provide certainty and hope for the victim's family," concluded AKP Sukarno.
