The Mystery of Sienna Rose: Neo-Soul Singer with Millions of Listeners Allegedly a Product of AI

JAKARTA - The digital streaming platform is back with "artificial musicians". If last year there was The Velvet Sundown which came in the band format, now a female singer named Sienna Rose has emerged.

In her profile on Spotify, Sienna Rose has a blue-checked account, introduced as a neo-soul soloist. Her debut began with the single titled "Light on My Skin" which was launched on February 9, 2024.

Even though it has been around for two years, Sienna Rose's name is a global discussion because her monthly listeners (streams) are quite fantastic, more than 3.1 million on Spotify as of Sunday, January 18.

The strong suspicion that Sienna Rose is a product of artificial intelligence or artificial intelligence (AI), can be seen from the strange way in which she introduces her music.

Since September 2025, Rose has released two singles, three extended plays (EP), and one full album released last December. In addition, his identity is also unknown.

The belief that Sienna Rose is an AI product is strengthened through Deezer's official statement to the BBC. The French platform confirmed that many of Sienna Rose's albums and songs were detected and marked as AI by their system.

Although Deezer's report says 97 percent of people find it difficult to distinguish original music from AI, there are striking clues. Rose has no social media, has never held a concert, and has no documentation of live performances.

In addition, his productivity is considered impossible, because he released at least 45 songs in just four months.

Previously, emotional reactions came from musicians to the presence of AI products. The American singer, Kehlani, expressed her concern about the prevalence of AI which is able to create songs without giving credit to copyrighted works that are the material for training.

"Nothing on this earth justifies the use of AI for me," Kehlani said, quoted by NME, Sunday, January 18.

A similar concern was felt by Lucas Woodland, the vocalist of Holding Absence, who felt insulted when the AI-based band surpassed their streaming numbers in a short time.

"This is shocking, disheartening, and insulting. Most importantly, it's a warning," Woodland said.

In addition, the rise of AI musicians such as Sienna Rose and The Velvet Sundown has forced platforms such as Bandcamp to take firm steps by banning AI-generated music in order to maintain the integrity of human works.
