BNN Emphasizes Drug Prevention Begins with Children Through Education
JAKARTA - The Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) RI, Commissioner General of Police Suyudi Ario Seto, emphasized the importance of strengthening prevention measures from an early age through massive education and cross-sectoral collaboration, including with schools, families, and communities.
During a working visit to the BNN Office in Surakarta City, Central Java, Thursday, January 15, he revealed that the trend of drug abuse at a young age was an alarm for all parties to strengthen the fortress of the resilience of the next generation of the nation.
"This is an alarm for all of us that drug abuse has targeted very early ages so that prevention efforts must be strengthened from the beginning involving families, schools, and the community environment," said Inspector General of Police. Suyudi, quoted by Antara, Saturday, January 17.
In line with this, he emphasized that prevention efforts from an early age continue to be strengthened through the National Action Program against Narcotics Starting from Children (ANANDA) which targets the family and school environment as the initial fortress for protecting children from drugs.
The visit carried out together with the Head of the Central Java Provincial BNN, accompanied by the Head of the Surakarta City BNN, was part of efforts to strengthen the performance of the work unit in the region.
After the review, the Head of the BNN RI held a dialogue with all levels of the BNN Surakarta City. The open and interactive dialogue discussed the challenges of carrying out tasks in the field and the dynamics of drug problems in the Surakarta region, which continue to grow as patterns of drug circulation and abuse change.
In the dialogue, the Surakarta City BNN staff conveyed that the majority of identified drug users were from the ranks of teenagers.
In fact, it was stated that there was one case of a teenager who was known to have a history of drug abuse since elementary school. This fact also became a serious concern for the Head of the BNN RI.
Closing the series of activities, Suyudi gave motivation to all members of the Surakarta City BNN to remain enthusiastic in carrying out state duties.
He emphasized that the role of officers in the region is very strategic as the front line in protecting the community from the threat of narcotics and invited all levels to continue to work with dedication and integrity to realize a clean Indonesia from drugs.
