BNPB Kebut 711 Huntara Aceh Utara Rampung Jelang Ramadan

JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) is speeding up the construction of temporary housing (huntara) for residents affected by floods in North Aceh Regency, Aceh, so that it can be completed and inhabited before Ramadan 1446 Hijriah/2026.

Acting Head of the BNPB Operations Control Center, Colonel of the Infantry Hery Setiono, said that the first phase, 711 huntara units were built in five sub-districts based on the results of validating the data that had been determined through the Decree of the Regent of North Aceh.

"The acceleration of development is focused on meeting the needs of residents with the categories of houses that are severely damaged, lost, and washed away due to disasters," he said, according to Antara.

The distribution of 711 huntara units includes Baktiya, Baktiya Barat, Dewantara, Sawang, and Seunuddondengan development that continues to be pursued so that the target time is achieved.

In Seunuddon District, the first phase of the construction of 84 huntara units was carried out in East Ulee Rubek Village by utilizing an area of approximately 14,000 square meters.

He said that each huntara unit is equipped with basic facilities, including a family room, bathroom, adequate sanitation, boreholes, and a simple waste disposal system.

After the first phase is completed, BNPB will carry out data validation updates to determine additional huntara needs based on the results of the follow-up data collection.

During the transition period to permanent housing, said Hery, affected residents were given the option of occupying a huntara or receiving a Housing Waiting Fund (DTH) of Rp. 600 thousand per month.

BNPB targets the first phase of huntara to be completed and occupied by the end of January, so that residents can occupy more decent housing ahead of Ramadan.

Until January 15, 2026, BNPB recorded that the development of huntara in North Aceh had been processed as many as 4,404 units, with acceleration carried out through cross-party collaboration with local governments and local communities.
