Meet the Post-Flood Disaster Needs, West Sumatra Needs a Budget of Rp. 21 Trillion
JAKARTA - The West Sumatra Provincial Government (Sumbar) needs a budget of Rp. 21.44 trillion to meet various post-disaster needs that occurred in 16 districts and cities at the end of November 2025.
"In total, the total post-disaster needs were recorded at Rp. 21.44 trillion," said West Sumatra Governor Mahyeldi, quoted by Antara.
Mahyeldi said the budget reflected the needs that must be met gradually, and planned so that recovery could run well and be targeted. In terms of authority, post-disaster needs are divided into three levels.
First, the allocation of Rp7.65 trillion or around 37.51 percent is a need that is within the authority of the central government. Then, the West Sumatra Provincial Government has the authority of Rp3.36 trillion or 15.69 percent.
Meanwhile, the largest portion is under the authority of regencies and cities, namely Rp. 10.42 trillion, or 48.60 percent of the total needs. This distribution shows the role and responsibilities of each level of government in meeting the needs after the disaster.
The former Mayor of Padang detailed that the budget was needed to meet the recovery of infrastructure of Rp17.06 trillion. Then the housing sector is worth Rp1.44 trillion, the economic sector is Rp1.10 trillion, the cross-sector needs of Rp1.19 trillion and the social sector needs a budget of Rp0.64 trillion.
"This data provides a complete picture of the magnitude of post-disaster needs, both in terms of total, authority and sector," said the governor.
Mahyeldi added that after the disaster, the government was faced with a huge responsibility, namely ensuring that the social and economic impacts caused did not spread further. Therefore, the governor together with the regent and the mayor in West Sumatra continues to strive to accelerate recovery in a targeted, integrated and targeted manner.
