Prabowo Corrects IKN Design, Adds Embung to Anticipate Karhutla

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto gave corrections to the design of the Nusantara Capital City by considering the function of balancing the hot climate of East Kalimantan by adding ponds, to anticipate forest and land fires (karhutla).

Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi explained that President Prabowo asked the Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) to pay attention to the functions and design in the IKN area.

"For example, this area needs to be considered in terms of design and function, for example, the addition of ponds. Because there, what is the name of the climate problem is one heat, second, there is a potential because in the area which is called an island with many forests there is also a potential for forest fires," said Mensesneg when giving information at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Thursday, January 16, reported by ANTARA.

Pras, his nickname, explained that President Prabowo had asked the Head of OIKN Basuki Hadimuljono to pay attention to the design to anticipate the occurrence of karhutla.

Basuki, said Pras, has reported a number of methods for installing heat sensors in the IKN area to detect potential forest fires.

"The head of OIKN reported that there were already several names of methods that installed sensors like that, this is asking to be tested," said Pras.

On a previous occasion, Prasetyo Hadi, who is also the President's Spokesperson, told reporters when he was met in Malang Regency, East Java, Tuesday, explaining that OIKN and the Ministry of Public Works were asked to carry out a number of improvements, and accelerate construction so that IKN as the Political Capital can be realized according to the target, namely in 2028.

"Last night (12/1) he (the President, ed.) landed at IKN together with several ministers to get an update from the Chairman of the OIKN regarding the progress of the development of our Nusantara Capital City, which the President has emphasized since the beginning to accelerate the development process of what is called the facilities that will be used for legislation and judiciary, which hopefully can be completed in 2028," said Prasetyo Hadi.

The head of OIKN who was mentioned by Prasetyo refers to Basuki Hadimuljono.

"So, there are still some things that the President corrected, first, for example, regarding the design, second, regarding the function. OIKN and the Ministry of Public Works are asked to continue to improve," continued Pras, Prasetyo's nickname.
