Minister of Health Will Punish PPDS Unsri Bullying Perpetrators

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (MoH) will sanction perpetrators of bullying against participants in the Specialist Doctor Education Program (PPDS) of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Sriwijaya (Unsri) at the M Hoesin Palembang Hospital, South Sumatra.

"Later the Ministry of Health will give sanctions for the issuance of STR (Registration Certificate)," said Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, January 15.

The Ministry of Health is studying the issue, while sanctions will be given according to the applicable provisions.

His party already has regulations related to bullying prevention, while this time his party is enforcing those rules.

He hopes this will have a deterrent effect on the alleged perpetrators.

"Then gradually this will improve the PPDS ecosystem in all hospitals," said Budi.

On the same occasion, the Director General of Advanced Health of the Ministry of Health, Azhar Jaya, said that looking at the bullying cases at Diponegoro University and Sam Ratulangi University in the past, the seniors involved were suspended for a period of one year.

"Now there is a return, accountability. The head, the captain is replaced, the head of the medical staff is replaced, they must continue to improve around, the plan for the next step is to prevent bullying (bullying) around 19 items," he said.

A total of 19 things need to be done, he said, including regulating WhatsApp groups, stricter guard rules to ensure patient safety, and the elimination of accounts for unofficial money collection.

He said that in this case of alleged bullying, the victim allegedly sent Rp. 15 million per month to the treasurer, then the money was used for various things.

"Some of them pay for food or for senior needs, like that," he said.

He said that regarding the temporary suspension of the PPDS of Eye Health Faculty of Medicine Unsri at RSUP M. Hoesin Palembang, the reopening of the program depends on the commitment of the hospital and the university to fulfill 19 things required by the Ministry of Health for the completion of alleged bullying.

"How long the termination period is, it depends on the efforts or efforts made by RSMH or FK Unsri," he said.
