The reason for the Haji Travel Agent to give money to the Head of the PBNU Economy is still being investigated by the KPK

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is still investigating the reason why the special haj organizer (PIHK) handed over money to the Head of the PBNU Economic Division, Aizzudin.

This was conveyed by KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo after investigators examined Aizzudin as a witness to the corruption case on the determination of quotas and the implementation of the 2023-2024 Hajj pilgrimage at the Ministry of Religion on Tuesday, January 13. After the examination, the KPK revealed the receipt of money from PIHK.

"That is the material that continues to be studied. The meaning, the purpose, why there is an alleged money transfer will still be investigated, yes, the meaning is for what it is," Budi told reporters at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, January 15.

Even so, Budi said that the acceptance of the money was made by Aizzudin personally. "For the individual concerned," he said.

"It is suspected that the receipt is from the travel bureau or PIHK, yes, related to the nominal, we will check it again because this is still being deepened," continued Budi.

Meanwhile, Aizzudin denied enjoying corrupt money for the haj quota after undergoing an examination by investigators. The same answer was also conveyed regarding the allegation of money flow to PBNU.

"So far, no," he said as he hurried out of the building.

He was reluctant to talk much about his examination. Because, according to him, it was the authority of the KPK.

"Itu yang berwenang beliau-beliau [penyidik]. Jadi, kalau mau ada tanya ke beliau saja," ucap Aizzudin.

"Insyaallah, we pray for the best, the best, there is no problem at all, and this is a reflection, introspection for everyone, especially the Nahdlatul Ulama leaders. Yesterday it was so crowded and so on, there are bigger interests, namely the community, the organization, the nation and the state," he said.

As previously reported, the KPK has announced two suspects in the corruption case for determining quotas and organizing the 2023-2024 Hajj period at the Ministry of Religion. They are former Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas and staff in particular, Ishfah Abidal Aziz alias Gus Alex.

The determination of the suspect was made later, because the KPK investigated the alleged corruption by using a general investigation order (sprindik) issued on August 7, 2025.

The Sprindik general uses Article 2 Paragraph 1 and/or Article 3 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2021 jo article 55 paragraph 1-1 of the Criminal Code. This means that there is state loss that occurs due to this corrupt practice.

The KPK said that the state's losses in the 2023-2024 quota and Hajj management corruption cases were said to have reached more than Rp. 1 trillion. The suspicion began with the provision of 20,000 additional Hajj quotas from the Saudi Arabian government for Indonesia to reduce the queue of pilgrims.

However, recently the distribution turned out to be problematic because it was divided equally, namely 50 percent for regular hajj and 50 percent for special hajj.

In fact, according to the law, the distribution should be 92 percent for regular hajj and 8 percent for special hajj.

During the course of this case, a number of parties have been examined. Among them are former Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas to travel agents or travel agents who organize special hajj (PIHK), including Fuad Hasan Masyhur as the boss of Maktour.
