SpaceX Crew-11 Mission Officially Ends After 167 Days in Space Station
JAKARTA - SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft carrying four astronauts from space has arrived on Earth. The plane landed off the coast of San Diego.
This landing was carried out on Thursday, January 15 local time. With the landing of the aircraft on Earth, NASA officially closed the Crew-11 exploration mission that had been running in space for 167 days at the International Space Station (ISS).
Shortly after the landing was carried out, the rescue team with two speedboats immediately secured the position of the Dragon capsule on the water surface. After being declared safe, the main ship lifted the aircraft to the deck for the process of evacuating the astronauts.
The four astronauts who arrived safely include NASA Astronauts, Zena Cardman and Mike Fincke, JAXA Astronaut, Kimiya Yui, and Kosmonot, Roscosmos Oleg Platonov. They returned to Earth earlier than the previously determined schedule.
This happened because of a medical problem in one of the crew members. Although he was sent home earlier, NASA confirmed that the condition of the crew member who had a health problem was still stable.
However, all crew members will be taken to the hospital for a thorough medical evaluation. This inspection step is carried out so that the astronauts can get the best treatment with medical facilities on Earth.
NASA confirmed that they would not share details of the identity of the sick crew members in order to maintain privacy. The post-flight recovery process will continue to be monitored by a team of space specialists in Houston.
