Kaspersky Gives Seven Effective Ways to Avoid Fraud When Shopping Online
JAKARTA - Kaspersky's latest research reveals that in the past year, their solution has managed to find 6.7 million phishing attacks imitating stores and digital payments.
As many as 97% of the 3000 respondents in 15 countries including Indonesia, admitted to being aware of security risks, but only 42% use protection solutions.
Even though 65% are confident in being able to recognize fraud, experts assess that vigilance alone is not enough to prevent cyber threats. Common practice is still limited to checking suspicious links and verifying sellers.
To avoid fraud when shopping online, Kaspersky recommends that people implement the following security practices:
Never store complete credit card details on a website unless absolutely necessary Consider using a separate debit card specifically for online purchases and set transaction alerts on your bank and credit card accounts Be wary of "flash sales" that seem too good to be trueBeware of websites that pressure you to make quick decisions, and be wary of sellers who refuse returns or exchanges Use different passwords for each online account and enable two-factor authentication if possible Apply security solutions with strong anti-phishing components, supported by AI technology, and a commitment to protecting digital life and user privacy Scammers continue to develop their methods, so staying up to date on the latest phishing techniques can help you recognize and avoid them.
