Jakarta Freedom, PenyanYi Mysterious Origin of Indonesia Draws Attention at SBS Veiled Cup

JAKARTA - Saniyah, or who uses the nickname Jakarta Freedom, managed to steal the spotlight at the Veiled Cup singing contest which aired on SBS, a South Korean television station. His video is widely discussed on the internet.

This event itself is a singing competition without judging someone in terms of physical appearance. Participants are only shown their silhouettes while singing behind a curtain, in front of the judges and the audience in the studio.

In the first episode, Saniyah successfully made many heads turn and show admiration. He sang Raisa's song titled Love & Let Go which has a pop ballad feel with an R&B touch.

He is able to combine the deep emotion of the song with mature vocal techniques. As a result, his performance on stage becomes a form of stunning performance art.

The video of the Jakarta Freedom action went viral immediately after the first episode aired. Raisa, the song's owner, also supported the mainstay participants from Indonesia.

Veiled Cup is a collaboration between SBS Korea and Spotify. This event recruits participants from various countries to show their singing talent purely.

A number of famous artists were appointed as judges for this event, ranging from 10cm, Miyeon IDLE, Tiffany Young to Ailee. Viewers can vote for the champion participants through the Spotify application so that they continue to survive week after week.
