Gudang Sisa Kain Terbakar, Pabrik Rajut di Bandung Dilalap Api

BANDUNG - The fire that hit a knitting factory in the Cilampeni area, Katapang, Bandung Regency, West Java, was allegedly triggered by flammable materials stored in the factory warehouse. The fire is suspected to have come from the remnants of the convection fabric that was stored to be reused in the production process.

Head of the Fire and Rescue Service (Disdamkarmat) of Bandung Regency, M. Saepulloh, said that the fire report was received at 04.37 WIB. Officers immediately responded and arrived at the location about six minutes later by deploying five fire trucks.

"The source of the fire is suspected to have come from a warehouse storing leftover fabric in the knitting factory. The fabric material is flammable so the fire quickly grew and spread," said Saepulloh, quoted by Antara, Thursday, January 15.

When the officers arrived, the fire was already quite large so it required the deployment of additional fleets. Saepulloh suspected that there was a delay in reporting from the factory which also exacerbated the fire conditions.

"When we arrived, the fire had grown. There was a possibility of a delay in the report so that the fire could develop," he said.

The extinguishing process was also hampered by the flow of electricity that had not been extinguished. This condition is considered risky for the safety of officers due to the potential for active electricity in the fire location.

"The main obstacle is that the electricity flow has not been directly interrupted. PLN has not received early information, so it is quite dangerous for officers," said Saepulloh.

Fortunately, the fire occurred outside the factory's operating hours so that no casualties occurred. The factory's activities are known to have only started around 07.00 WIB.

The fire was successfully controlled at around 06.00 WIB and did not spread to other buildings. Until the morning, officers were still carrying out the cooling process to prevent re-fires, which was also helped by the rainy conditions in the area.
