Today Prabowo Meets Social Humanities Professors and Rectors at the Palace
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto invited 1,200 professors, deans, and rectors of social humanities from various state universities and private universities across Indonesia to the middle courtyard of the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Thursday, January 15.
A similar meeting, attended by a majority of professors in the field of STEM, was held by President Prabowo at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, on March 13, 2025.
"Today is dedicated to the social humanities field. So, if before it was a bit general, and there was also specificity perhaps regarding STEM, today it is dedicated to the social humanities field. So, to the brothers and sisters of academics who may feel a bit worried that social humanities are not being taken care of, it is not true. In fact, specifically today, the President has gathered (the head of the field, ed.) social humanities," said Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Prof. Stella Christie, quoted by Antara, Thursday, January 15.
The meeting between President Prabowo and the professors, rectors, and deans is scheduled to take place at around 09.00 WIB. All series of meetings were held in closed session.
Apart from that, Stella explained that today's meeting would be filled with the delivery of a briefing by President Prabowo in front of professors, deans, and rectors, then a dialogue session.
"We are of course very happy that the President wants to have a direct dialogue with us, the academics," said Stella.
More than a thousand professors, deans, and rectors from various campuses in Indonesia arrived at the Presidential Palace since 07.30 WIB.
Some of them are wearing suits complete with their university logos, some are wearing ordinary suits without their campus emblems.
Most of the invitees entered the Palace through the door on Jalan Majapahit and were immediately directed to enter from the back of the State Palace.
At the event location, several state officials were also present, including the Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Head of the Government Communication Agency Angga Raka Prabowo, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto.
