Child Grooming, PPPA Minister Arifah Warns of Dangers
JAKARTA - Minister of Empowerment of Women and Child Protection Arifah Fauzi reminded the public to be aware of child grooming and sexual violence against children.
"Public understanding of the early signs of grooming is very important and needed as a preventive measure against sexual violence against children. We hope that the public can increase vigilance and protect children from being trapped in the lure of perpetrators," said PPPA Minister Arifah Fauzi as reported by ANTARA.
According to him, the practice of child grooming and sexual violence against children is a real threat that still occurs in the community and requires vigilance and the active role of all elements, especially the family and the child's immediate environment.
Child grooming practices can occur in various environments, including families, communities, and educational units.
"This seemingly reasonable approach pattern often escapes supervision," said Arifah Fauzi.
Public attention to the issue of child grooming has increased with the publication of the book "The Broken String" written by public figure Aurelie Moeremans and containing her life experiences related to sexual violence.
The Ministry of Empowerment of Women and Child Protection considers that the work can be an important reminder for all elements of society that violence against children is real and can happen to anyone, and that joint efforts are needed to strengthen the child protection system.
Minister Arifatul Choiri Fauzi asked that if the public found indications of child grooming, they should immediately report through the nearest Women Empowerment and Child Empowerment Integrated Service Unit (UPTD PPA) or the Women and Children's Friend (SAPA 129) service through the 129 call center and WhatsApp 08111-129-129.
