LMKN's Response to the Report of Dozens of Songwriters to the KPK

JAKARTA - The National Collective Management Institution (LMKN) Commissioner, Ahmad Ali Fahmi, responded to reports from a number of songwriters to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), last week.

As is known, dozens of songwriters who call themselves the Public Guard of Song Creators (Garputala), reported LMKN with the alleged freezing of royalties of IDR 14 billion.

Responding to the lawsuit, Ali Fahmi admitted that his party had not yet clearly known about the report submitted to the KPK.

"Regarding the report at the KPK, frankly we as the LMKN do not understand what the report is about," Ali said at a press conference at the LMKN office, Kuningan, South Jakarta, Tuesday, January 13.

"Because throughout the Rp14 billion receipt, LMKN has never received Rp14 billion from anyone. We don't know what it is," he continued.

Ali admitted that there was a withdrawal of funds from one of the Collective Management Institutions (LMK), Wahana Musik Indonesia (WAMI), but the work of the Commissioners who were newly appointed in the second semester of 2026, was considered to be in accordance with the applicable regulations.

"However, LMKN does attract royalty funds that have been in LMK WAMI, which have never been informed to us in detail. Why? Because LMKN is entitled and authorized to manage all of that - based on applicable laws and regulations," said Ali.

"Why can WAMI manage, before? Because WAMI used to manage based on the authority given by LMKN," he added. "If you remember in August, we had a joint agreement, all of these authorities were revoked. Therefore, we withdrew all related matters in the LMK to be held accountable and verified

Furthermore, Ali emphasized that the withdrawal of funds from WAMI which was carried out some time ago was an effort by LMKN to maintain transparency in the management of music royalties in Indonesia.

"Even if there are funds that are withheld, it is also part of the transparency that we are doing. Because the LMKN period now will not distribute if the LMK is in trouble or does not complete the documents related to the use of songs or other conditions required to verify the data distribution," he concluded.
