Moses Itauma Injured, Duel Against Jermaine Franklin Postponed

JAKARTA - Youth fighter Moses Itauma suffered an injury while training so that his fight schedule against Jermaine Franklin had to be postponed.

Itauma, 21, and Jermaine (32) were supposed to meet in the heavyweight ring in Manchester, England, on January 24, 2026. However, Itauma's injury forced their match to be postponed.

According to Ring Magazine's report, March 28, 2026 is the new date for the clash of the two names. All the series of matches in the event card were also shifted.

"Unfortunately, Moses Itauma suffered an injury during training. Therefore, the Magnificent 7 show is rescheduled for March 28, 2026," read a statement released by Queensberry Promotions.

This injury is certainly a huge blow for Itauma, who hopes to remain active in the fight so as to increase his chances of winning the world title.

The British fighter is considered one of the best heavyweight prospects. He is also trying to become the youngest heavyweight world champion in British history.

The schedule of the fight against Franklin, who had to withdraw two months ago, automatically hindered his plans to get a chance against world champion Oleksandr Usyk and Fabio Wardley.

Itauma can be said to be the most shining boxer at the moment. He has a record of not losing from 13 fights (11 of which were through KO), including stopping big names like Dillian Whyte in his last fight.

Thus, Franklin is expected to provide a more difficult test in their clash later. That could be Itauma's preparation to rise to a more elite level.
