Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow's Son Officially Debuts in the Global Music Industry
JAKARTA - The art of blood flows strongly in the veins of Moses Martin. The son of Coldplay vocalist, Chris Martin, and Oscar-winning actress, Gwyneth Paltrow, officially announced his first step in the global music industry.
Not completely following in his father's footsteps, Moses introduced a darker color of music through his new band called People I've Met.
The presence of this alt-rock unit is marked by the launch of the debut single titled "Promise". In this project, Moses collaborated with Andrew Suster and Orlando Wiltshire.
Unlike Coldplay's exploration of musical colors, People I've Met instead takes listeners into a more moody and emotional atmosphere.
The good news is that Moses' talent was immediately spotted by industry giant, Interscope Records. This label is not a random name, considering that they shelter world-class musicians such as Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, and Kendrick Lamar.
Through a post on Instagram, Moses also expressed his gratitude for the birth of his first work. He gave special appreciation to Noah Conrad, the producer who helped formulate the identity of his band's voice.
"I'm so proud of this song. I'm forever grateful to the band and Noah Conrad, for helping make this song so special," Moses said, quoting the caption of the upload, Wednesday, January 14.
"I hope you enjoy it. My respects, Moses Martin," he continued.
Musically, "Promise" offers a mix of instruments that remind listeners of the music styles of The Temper Trap and Tame Impala.
Moses' vocal character shows a resemblance to Chris Martin's voice, especially in the melancholic pre-chorus.
Meanwhile, the lyrics themselves feel very personal, voicing a sense of fatigue and honesty.
Actually, this is not the first time Moses has been involved in the music world. Previously, he had contributed vocals to the Coldplay song "Humankind", as well as having songwriting credits for "All My Love", "The Astronaut", and "Orphans".
Moses' move follows his older brother, Apple Martin, who has also started to get active in the music scene.
Apple was seen performing in Nashville with the duo Jade Street and was involved as a songwriter for Coldplay's collaboration with Selena Gomez, "Let Somebody Go".
