DKI Provincial Government Targets the Demolition of Monorail Poles and the Arrangement of Rasuna Said Street to be Completed in September

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government targets the demolition of the broken monorail pole and the arrangement of Jalan HR Rasuna Said to be completed in September. The arrangement is carried out thoroughly, covering the road body, sidewalk, to the drainage system.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Office Heru Suwondo said that road and sidewalk arrangement work has been scheduled until September. However, the Provincial Government opened the opportunity for acceleration if the conditions on the ground were possible.

"For the overall arrangement of roads and sidewalks, we schedule it until September. But yes, we try to do it if it can be accelerated, we will accelerate," said Heru on Rasuna Said Street, South Jakarta, Wednesday, January 14.

According to Heru, the arrangement not only focuses on visual aspects, but also the function of basic infrastructure, especially drainage. The arrangement of water channels is carried out simultaneously with the repair of roads and sidewalks to minimize the potential for flooding in the area.

"Of course we will arrange the roads and sidewalks, and at the same time with the arrangement of the drainage. So insyaallah after it becomes all, this is if there is a puddle that has flowed into the drainage along the road," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Service, Syafrin Liputo, ensured that there was no total closure of Jalan Rasuna Said during the process of dismantling the monorail pole and arrangement. Traffic engineering was only carried out on the slow lane.

Syafrin explained that the slow lane closure was carried out in stages. When one segment is closed, vehicle traffic from the fast lane can still shift to the slow lane that is opened in front of the work point.

The demolition work is planned to take place at night with the target of cutting one monorail pole every night. This takes into account the high traffic density of Jakarta which is still high until late at night.

"The window time is from 23.00 to 05.00. So, the through traffic can still move," said Syafrin.

However, Dishub anticipates a slowdown in traffic due to the curiosity of drivers when crossing the work location. Syafrin appealed to motorists not to stop around the demolition area so that traffic flows smoothly.

"We hope that no vehicles will stop while work is being carried out. Keep moving so that the traffic behind you continues to move smoothly," explained Syafrin.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government officially started demolishing the broken monorail pole along Jalan HR Rasuna Said, South Jakarta. The demolition was marked by the cutting of one of the monorail poles that had been abandoned for more than two decades.

The process was carried out together with a number of parties, ranging from former DKI Jakarta Governor Sutiyoso, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno, Head of the DKI Jakarta High Prosecutor's Office Patris Yusrian Jaya, to representatives of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

In total, the DKI Provincial Government allocated around Rp. 102 billion in this work. Meanwhile, the special cost for cutting the monorail pole is only Rp. 254 million. Then, the rest is used for the overall arrangement of the area. The arrangement includes repairing the road body, water channels, sidewalks, parks, public street lighting, and other supporting facilities along Jalan Rasuna Said.
