Officially Uncovering the Broken Monorail Pole in Rasuna Said, Pramono: Jakarta is Reorganizing Itself to Improve Public Facilities
JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has officially started demolishing the broken monorail pole along Jalan HR Rasuna Said, South Jakarta. The demolition was marked by the cutting of one of the monorail poles that had been abandoned for more than two decades.
The process was carried out together with a number of parties, ranging from former DKI Jakarta Governor Sutiyoso, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno, Head of the DKI Jakarta High Prosecutor's Office Patris Yusrian Jaya, to representatives of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
The Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung said that the demolition of the monorail pole on Jalan Rasuna Said was part of Jakarta's efforts to repair public facilities that had been neglected.
"Today, hopefully this will be a sign that Jakarta is indeed arranging itself to improve the public facilities owned by Jakarta," said Pramono on Jalan Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, Wednesday, January 14.
Pramono clarified information related to the budget for the demolition of the monorail pole. He emphasized that the special cost for cutting the monorail pole was only IDR 254 million.
According to Pramono, a total of around Rp102 billion was allocated for the overall arrangement of the area. The arrangement includes the repair of roads, water channels, sidewalks, parks, public street lighting, and other supporting facilities along Jalan Rasuna Said.
"For the cost of demolition itself, it is actually 254 million. Then for the road, there are ditches, there are parks, then there are pedestrians, it is estimated that 102 billion rupiah," explained Pramono.
A total of 109 monorail poles will be dismantled and rearranged to the end of Jalan Rasuna Said. Pramono believes that this arrangement will have an impact on improving the quality of the road and is expected to reduce congestion in the area.
The demolition and arrangement will be carried out at night to minimize traffic disruption. Pramono ensured that no lane closures would take place during the process and had asked the Road Construction Agency and the Transportation Agency to regulate traffic in the area.
"The work will be carried out at night. So that there is no closure of the lane," he said.
On that occasion, Pramono also expressed his appreciation to Sutiyoso who served as Governor of DKI Jakarta when the monorail project was first announced. He said the project stopped not because of the unwillingness to complete it, but because of the change of policy and leadership.
"It's not that Bang Yos doesn't want to finish, because Bang Yos has ended his duties, he didn't continue to change policies," said Pramono.
Furthermore, Pramono added, the completion of the arrangement of the broken monorail pole was carried out with the assistance of the DKI Jakarta High Prosecutor's Office and the KPK to ensure that no legal issues arise later.
"Because at that time I also specifically reported to the KPK so that there would be no problems later," he added.
