Gibran Ensures Quick Wins Program Runs in Papua Mountains
WAMENA - Vice President (Wapres) Gibran Rakabuming Raka ensures that the quick wins program or eight focus on accelerating development can run optimally in the Papua Mountains region.
This is what prompted the Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, accompanied by the Chief of Staff of the Army (KSAD) General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs (Wamendagri) Ribka Haluk, and Chairman of the Executive Committee for the Acceleration of Special Autonomy Development of Papua Veliv V Wanggai, to visit Wamena in Jayawijaya Regency and Dekai in Yahukimo Regency, Papua Mountains, for two days on January 13-14, 2026.
Chairman of the Executive Committee for the Acceleration of the Special Autonomy Development of Papua (KEPPOKP) Veliv V Wanggai confirmed Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka's two-day visit to Papua Mountains to ensure that quick wins programs run optimally.
"The Vice President's visit to Papua, especially Biak, Wamena, and Yahukimo, to ensure that quick win programs can run well, including the People's School Program and Free Nutritious Meals (MBG)," he said, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, January 14.
According to him, Vice President Gibran's visit to Wamena was the first after being inaugurated with President Prabowo Subianto some time ago.
"We can say that the visit to Wamena is the first after being inaugurated last year with Mr. President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto. The visit by the Vice President also serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Acceleration of the Development of Special Autonomy for Papua (BP3OKP) to ensure that all national priority programs can run optimally in Papua Highlands," he said.
He explained that Vice President Gibran's working visit was not only in Wamena but also to Dekai in Yahukimo Regency.
"The Vice President has carried out a working visit to Biak and will be scheduled to Yahukimo today (14/1) to ensure that all national agendas can be implemented at the planning, preparation, institutional levels of the regional government as well as people's schools and the MBG economic ecosystem," he said.
The Vice President, he continued, is scheduled today (Wednesday) to visit the economic center in Pasat Potikelek to see firsthand the economic activities of the original Papuan mothers selling original Papuan commodities or food.
"The market economy can be a node for economic movement in Papua and in line with the central government's priority programs in improving traditional and modern markets," he said.
Vice President Gibran is scheduled to review the location of the construction of the Papua Mountains Regional General Hospital (RSUD) in Jayawijaya Regency and to Dekai, Yahukimo Regency.
