Regarding the Unclaimed Royalty Mechanism, Here is the Explanation of LMKN
JAKARTA - The LMKN management for the 2025-2028 working period announced the royalty funds collected from unclaimed royalty receipts or royalties that have not been claimed due to the absence of data on the right recipient. This year is the first time that this section has been opened to the public.
"The first time we informed there was unclaimed funds. From the past years, which have never been published so far, this is the time we publish. That is one form of transparency carried out by LMKN," said the Commissioner of LMKN Related Rights Owner, Ahmad Ali Fahmi, at a press conference on the performance report of LMKN in Jakarta, quoted by ANTARA on Wednesday, January 14.
The total unclaimed royalty recorded until 2025 is IDR 70,443,962,593. This value consists of unclaimed digital royalties of IDR 54,394,940,749 and unclaimed analog royalties of IDR 16,049,021,844.
Fahmi explained that unclaimed royalties are royalties that are not known or cannot be claimed because the owner or holder of the right is not known. This is because it is not in one of the LMK so that the royalty is held as unclaimed.
"Regarding the process of claiming unclaimed royalties, we commissioners are implementing the mechanism, and in the near future we will announce it, including whether or not the right holder becomes a member of the LMK, so that we will inform you more about this," said Fahmi.
Fahmi gave an example of a song that included unclaimed royalties, namely a regional language song that was quite viral with a royalty value of almost 200 million rupiah and had never been published to its owner. The total value of unclaimed royalties during 2025, is estimated to include tens of thousands of copyright holders who have never been published.
"This data consists of millions of song data, millions of song usage data so we really need time to verify these creations, so just wait but we are optimistic that in the near future we can make conclusions from all of this data," said Fahmi.
LMKN's step to publish transparently to the public is an effort to open up about the collection of royalties which have been considered closed from the community.
