Dozens of Situbondo Residents' Houses Destroyed by Angi Puting Storm

JAKARTA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Situbondo Regency, East Java (Jatim) said that dozens of residents' houses were destroyed by tornadoes.

The Coordinator of the Operation Control Center (Pusdalops) of the Situbondo Regency BPBD, Puriyono, said that the tornado hit the residential area in Krajan Pesisir Village, Selomukti Village, Mlandingan District.

"According to the recognition of residents affected by the tornado in the afternoon, the whirlpool-shaped wind damaged the residents' houses, and the majority of the roof of the house," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, January 13.

Puriyono said that the tornado hit the residents' houses along with the drizzle, and did not last long and did not cause casualties.

From the results of the assessment of the tornado disaster, he continued, at least 16 units of residents' houses in the coastal area were damaged in the light, medium and heavy categories.

"After we assessed the houses affected by the tornado, 12 houses were slightly damaged, three houses were moderately damaged, and one house was severely damaged. The majority of the damage from the tornado was on the roof of the house," said Puriyono.
