Driver of a Car Was Persecuted by Rp50 Thousand by a Tire Repairer in Kelapa Gading

JAKARTA - A man driving a car with the initials BS became a victim of extortion by a tire repairman on Jalan Gading Bukit Indah Raya, Kelapa Gading Barat Village, Kelapa Gading District, North Jakarta.

The victim experienced the incident on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. The victim then parked his car behind the Lotte mart Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta to take his girlfriend to work.

The victim also left his car. However, when he returned to drive the car, it turned out that the car plate was removed and lost.

The victim then searched around the flooded area because he was afraid of being swept away by the current. But the effort was unsuccessful.

A few hours later, the victim saw that his license plate was at a tire repair shop around the location. Because he knew that there was his license plate, the victim wanted to ask him but the tire repairer actually forbade him.

The tire repairer then asked the victim for a ransom for the number plate of Rp50 thousand. Hearing the request, the victim was upset.

The victim felt that he was being extorted by the perpetrator. He then reported the incident to the Kelapa Gading Police.

Kelapa Gading Police Chief Kompol Seto Handoko Putra confirmed the report through the 110 call center. After receiving the report, the Kelapa Gading Police Criminal Investigation Unit immediately met the victim.

"It is true that the report is that there are people who ask for money in exchange for redeeming the number plate," said Kompol Seto when confirmed.

Furthermore, the perpetrator and the victim were mediated until there was an agreement on the misunderstanding.

"Mediation was carried out between the two parties, and it was agreed that the person did not ask for money in return for redeeming the number plate," he said.

The problem can then be resolved within the family and lead to peace.
