Central KONI: The Problem Of Refusal To Host The Papua PON From The Mayor Of Jayapura And Mikiki Regent Has Been Resolved
JAKARTA - Secretary General of the Central KONI Ade Lukman confirmed that the issue regarding the threat of refusal to host the Papua PON presented by the Mayor of Jayapura and the Regent of Mimika had been resolved.
According to Ade, the Central KONI, PB PON, the Mayor of Jayapura, and the Regent of Mimika have held a meeting in an effort to resolve the problem.
"Coordination has started. So from PB PON, representatives have met with the Mayor of Jayapura and the problem has been resolved," said Ade when contacted by Antara in Jakarta, Saturday, May 29.
"Then the day after tomorrow there will be a meeting between the Central KONI, PB PON and all regional leaders from each cluster," he added.
Previously, Jayapura Mayor Benhur Tommy Mano and Mimika Regent Eltinus Omaleng stated that they refused to host the Papua PON because PB PON was not transparent about the budget.
"Actually, I wanted to reveal some time ago, but the mayor of Jayapura was the first to declare it to the public because the PB PON was not open regarding funds," said Omaleng, Friday (25/5).
"If there is still no transparency from PB PON, then Mimika Regency will refuse to be the host," he asserted.
PB PON is considered to have never disclosed the amount of budget received and its distribution so that the Jayapura City Government refused to host it even though its territory would be the venue for 16 sports.
Ade also confirmed that the root cause of the threat of rejection arose because of the unclear division of tasks and authorities from PB PON.
“So they don't want to come from that area later if there is no clarity of authority and division of tasks. They are afraid of being blamed so it is better for them not to be the host, more or less so, "said Ade.
“Yes, including the matter of budget transparency as well. But in the end it was clear and the coordination was more intense,” he concluded.
