Sure to Uncover Monorail Poles Not Violating the Law, the DKI Provincial Government Emphasizes that it Will Return the Asset to Adhi Karya

JAKARTA - The DKI Provincial Government will demolish the old monorail project pillars along Jalan HR Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, on Wednesday, January 14. Assistant for Development and Environment of the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of DKI Jakarta, Afan Adriansyah believes that the DKI Provincial Government will not violate the law from the execution.

Because, the DKI Provincial Government has previously coordinated with PT Adhi Karya as the owner of the monorail project pole assets to carry out demolition. In addition, this planning also received assistance from the High Prosecutor's Office and consultation with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

Moreover, continued Afan, the abandoned monorail pole assets that will be dismantled will also be returned by the DKI Provincial Government to Adhi Karya.

"The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government also respects the rights of PT Adhi Karya. Therefore, even though the demolition was carried out by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, the assets belonging to PT Adhi Karya will be stored in a safe place," said Afan in his statement, Tuesday, January 13.

In addition, Afan revealed that in Presidential Regulation Number 55 of 2018 concerning the Jabodetabek Transportation Master Plan and Regional Regulation Number 7 of 2024 concerning the Spatial Planning Plan for the 2024-2044 period, there is no plan to develop a monorail.

Then, the cooperation agreement between the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and PT Jakarta Monorail officially ended since September 21, 2011. As it should be, the project will not be continued again.

"According to the provisions, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is the owner of the land where the 122 monorail poles are located. Based on the court's decision, these poles belong to PT Adhi Karya and technically cannot be used as monorail poles," said Afan.

The budget allocated for the demolition of the broken monorail pole in Rasuna Said is IDR 100 billion from the DKI Regional Budget.

However, Deputy Special Staff Coordinator for the Governor of DKI Jakarta Yustinus Prastowo emphasized that the budget was not only spent on dismantling the poles, but also on arranging the roads and sidewalks to improve the safety, comfort, and aesthetics of the business and diplomatic area.

This policy is aimed at bringing long-term benefits to the community, as well as answering the problem of infrastructure that has been neglected for years.

"As we know, the Kuningan area is an economic, business, and diplomatic center. Kuningan is the face of Jakarta. There are no less than 11 embassies in this area. In addition, there are LRT and Transjakarta lines that are the focus of public transportation," said Prastowo.

According to him, the existence of the monorail pole that has been stuck has the potential to interfere with various strategic activities in the Kuningan area. Starting from public transportation support, economic mobility, to the smoothness of the state agenda.

He also said that safety issues were the main reason for the demolition. Data shows that the traffic accident rate around the area is quite high due to the presence of monorail poles that do not meet safety standards.

Even though it places Kuningan as a priority for arrangement, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government ensures that this agenda does not shift the commitment to fulfilling the basic needs of residents in other areas.

"Organizing the Kuningan area does not mean ignoring other areas and needs. At the same time, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government remains focused on providing basic infrastructure and essential services for DKI residents," said Prastowo.
