Minister of Home Affairs: The disaster in West Sumatra is not as bad as in Aceh and North Sumatra.
JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian said that the conditions of the disaster that occurred in West Sumatra (Sumbar) are still relatively low, compared to those in Aceh and North Sumatra (Sumut) provinces.
"If I look at the map of West Sumatra, once again I do not rule out West Sumatra and do not downplay the disaster here, but compared to the other two areas, I see other provinces, West Sumatra is relatively compared to the other two, it is not as bad as the other two," said Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian in Padang City, Tuesday, quoted by Antara.
This was conveyed by the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian when he chaired a coordination meeting to accelerate rehabilitation and coordination with the Head of BNPB, Deputy Minister for Empowerment of Women and Child Protection, governors, and regents and mayors in West Sumatra.
Tito said based on the results of the Zoom meeting with the governors of the provinces affected by the disaster, the conditions in Ranah Minang are still relatively good. Because, out of 16 districts and cities that were affected by the disaster, almost all of them fell into the green category.
"Almost everything is green, but this is what I want to make sure of, especially Tanah Datar Regency," said the Minister of Home Affairs.
During the coordination meeting, the Minister of Home Affairs received an exposure that the government's condition was still running smoothly. However, a number of nagari or villages are still in the handling stage, one of which is in the Malalo area, Tanah Datar Regency.
As an illustration, he continued, the disaster conditions in Aceh Besar Regency until now have not run smoothly. All government service offices are still closed because of the debris flood material, especially mud.
Meanwhile, specifically in Ranah Minang, all health services, especially the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) have resumed operations. However, some health centers are still hampered by the impact of flooding. This condition occurs in Pasaman Regency, Padang Pariaman Regency, Tanah Datar Regency and Agam Regency.
"Then there are also clinics in Padang City that are said to be not yet operational," said the Minister of Home Affairs.
