609 Huntara Units for Disaster Victims in Beutong Ateuh Aceh Completed Before Ramadan 2026

JAKARTA - The Regent of Nagan Raya in Aceh Province, Teuku Raja Keumangan, stated that the construction of 609 temporary housing units (huntara) for thousands of flood victims in Beutong Ateuh Banggalang District is targeted to be completed before the holy month of Ramadan 2026.

"The commitment of the central government, before the holy month of Ramadan, the huntara can be inhabited," said the Regent of Nagan Raya, Teuku Raja Keumangan, accompanied by the Deputy Regent of Raja Sayang, in Nagan Raya, Tuesday.

The regional government hopes that in the future, people who have been displaced in evacuation tents will be able to move to temporary housing prepared by the government, so that they can carry out the holy month of Ramadan well and more devoutly.

Regent Teuku Raja Keumangan said that for the needs of refugees in huntara, it will still be the responsibility of the district government to fulfill it.

Previously on Saturday (4 January), the Nagan Raya Regency Government proposed the construction of 609 temporary housing units for flood victims in Beutong Ateuh Banggalang District to the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) of the Republic of Indonesia.

The details of the proposed huntara buildings are as follows: 91 units in Blang Meurandeh Village / Gampong, 222 units in Kuta Teungoh Gampong, 166 units in Babah Suak Gampong, and 130 units in Blang Puuk Gampong.

Teuku Raja Keumangan said that Beutong Ateuh Banggalang District is one of the areas most affected by hydrometeorological disasters in Nagan Raya Regency. Around 85 percent of residents' houses, public facilities, and infrastructure in the area were reported to have suffered total damage, so that thousands of residents were forced to evacuate.

He said the local government continues to encourage the acceleration of the construction of temporary housing, considering that refugees will face the holy month of Ramadan this year.

The regional government also expressed its appreciation for the rapid action of the central government, especially BNPB, in handling post-disaster in Nagan Raya Regency.

Previously, the Head of BNPB Suharyanto in Nagan Raya, Aceh Saturday, January 4, said that until now the Aceh Province, especially the Nagan Raya Regency, is still in the emergency disaster response status.

"This is due to the fact that there are still many residents who have to survive in the evacuation due to the impact of the flood," he said.

For the Beutong Ateuh Banggalang District, Suharyanto emphasized that BNPB would ensure that all the needs of flood-affected residents could be met, ranging from basic needs to the provision of temporary and permanent housing.
