BYD Prepares Tang 9 Giant SUV and Luxury Sedan Han 9, Carrying 800V Architecture and Advanced LiDAR
JAKARTA - BYD has begun to provide leaks related to its two latest flagship models, namely the full-size SUV Tang 9 and the executive sedan Han 9. Both will play in the D segment and are scheduled to officially launch in the first half of this year. Quoting Carnewschina, Tuesday, January 13, from the side of technical specifications, Tang 9 and Han 9 will be offered in Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) options. Both models will carry an 800V high-voltage architecture, which promises more efficient performance and faster charging capabilities. According to BYD's official information, Tang 9 and Han 9 not only come with larger dimensions compared to the previous generation, but will also be equipped with the most complete and cutting-edge technology from the Chinese manufacturer. The teaser image released shows the presence of a LiDAR sensor on the roof, indicating the adoption of a high-end advanced driving assistance system.
Tang 9 itself is a production version of the Dynasty-D concept SUV which was first introduced at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show. This SUV is estimated to have a length of more than 5.2 meters, making it one of the largest models in the BYD line. From the side view, Tang 9 retains the design character of the Dynasty-D concept, including the use of chrome strips above the window line that extends to the D pillar. The B pillar is also decorated with a double chrome accent that adds a premium impression. Meanwhile, the BYD Han 9 sedan will have a length of more than 5.1 meters, with an estimated wheelbase of 3.1 meters, offering a spacious cabin typical of executive sedans. As a note, as of November 2025, the BYD Han and Tang lines have recorded cumulative sales of more than 1.93 million units globally. The presence of Tang 9 and Han 9 is expected to further strengthen BYD's position in the upper middle segment while boosting sales of both series.
