PDIP Proposes Multiparty Moderation, Signal for Revision of Parliamentary Thresold?
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) proposes multi-party moderation to reform the political system.
This attitude was conveyed by the Chairman of the PDIP Aceh DPD Jamaluddin Idham when reading the external recommendations at the closing of the I PDIP National Conference, which was held at the Beach City International Stadium, Jakarta, Monday, January 12.
"Political system reform is carried out by encouraging a simple multi-party system and confirming that participants in the legislative elections are political parties, in order to realize a simple multi-party system as a counterpart to the implementation of the presidential system," said Jamaluddin when reading the recommendation.
Regarding this recommendation point, the Chairman of the PDIP DPP Andreas Hugo Pareira said there are several ways to simplify the multi-party system. First, tighten the administrative process during the registration of political parties.
"Don't make it too easy to register political parties. So tighten the requirements for registration to participate in the election. That's administratively," Andreas told reporters at the Beach City International Stadium, Ancol, North Jakarta, South Jakarta, quoted Tuesday, January 13.
This simplification, continued Andreas, can also be done by changing the parliamentary threshold. This way is more efficient and effective when making decisions in parliament.
The Deputy Chairman of Commission XIII of the DPR gave an example, if there is one political party that does not meet the 13 seats in the parliament, the decision-making process can be more difficult.
"Simplification can also be through thresold. Well, this is what we are talking about effectiveness in decision-making," said Andreas.
"So the meaning of a simple multiparty is effectiveness in the decision-making process and how it is administratively and politically," he concluded.
