Rainy Season Arrives: Check out Tips from Sulbar Health Office to Keep Your House Free of Mosquitoes and Skin Diseases

JAKARTA - The rain that has been pouring over the West Sulawesi region in recent times has brought coolness, but on the other hand, the puddles that appear are an "open invitation" for mosquitoes to breed. In response to this, the Health, Population Control and Family Planning Agency (Dinkes P2KB) of Sulbar is now tightening their defense fortresses.

Not only about umbrellas and raincoats, maintaining the cleanliness of the home area is now a mandatory "lifestyle" so that families are free from diseases typical of the wet season.

The Enemy in the Pool: From DBD to Skin Disease

Head of the P2KB Health Office of South Sulawesi, dr. Nursyamsi Rahim, reminded that weather like now is very prone to triggering various diseases, especially Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DBD) carried by mosquitoes.

"We urge the public to improve their healthy lifestyle because various diseases caused by weather conditions such as at this time are very vulnerable to attack, one of which is DBD," said dr. Nursyamsi in Mamuju, Monday (12/1).

In addition to the threat of mosquitoes, poor environmental sanitation due to high water or high humidity also triggers digestive disorders such as diarrhea and skin disease problems.

The steps of the Health Office "Detective" at the Field

The Sulbar Health Office did not stay silent. A team of experts, including entomologists (insect experts), now routinely conduct weekly monitoring. One of the key steps is Epidemiological Investigation (PE) or "investigation" whenever a case is found to break the chain of transmission at the source.

Irwan Adi Putra, Entomologist of the P2KB Health Office of East Nusa Tenggara, explained that his party continued to map areas with high mosquito density. Although facing challenges such as delays in data collection in some areas, the government continues to strengthen the capacity of officers through regular training and evaluation.

Pay attention to Skin Hygiene: Make sure to immediately take a shower and dry your body properly if you get wet or pass through puddles to prevent fungus and itching.

Healthy Eating Pattern: Increase immunity by consuming vitamins and nutritious foods to ward off diarrhea-causing bacteria.

Immediately to Faskes: If you have symptoms of fever that do not go away or strange rashes on your skin, do not delay in going to the nearest health center or clinic.

Maintaining health in the rainy season indeed requires extra effort, but a clean environment is the best investment so that daily activities are not disturbed by illness.
