Putri KW Hati-Hati Bersua Michelle Li di Babak Pertama India Open 2026

JAKARTA - Putri Kusuma Wardani still very careful against Michelle Li in the first round of the 2026 India Open even though on paper she has a better record of meeting the Canadian women's singles badminton player.

The India Open, which is a BWF Super 750 level, will take place on January 13-18, 2026 at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, New Delhi. Indonesia only sent four representatives to the tournament.

The daughter who came down as the sixth seed is the only Indonesian women's singles player to play there. On paper, she still has a 1-0 win-loss record against Li, but that statistic can't guarantee their clash in the first round.

"The first meeting in Australia (Open 2025) then I won three games and it was not easy. So, with different field conditions, of course, I have to prepare more," said Putri.

The 23-year-old badminton player continued his journey to India after only reaching the quarterfinals at the 2026 Malaysia Open last week. His journey there ended against Wang Zhi Yi from China, who eventually came out as runner-up.

The daughter who first competed in the India Open said that one of the obstacles that could disturb her trip to India was the very cold air, both on and off the court.

"I have to adapt to this condition. I have to warm up extra so that when I get on the field it will be hot. Hopefully tomorrow when the match is better," he said.

Putri landed in India with Jonatan Christie (men's singles), Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Mohammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani (men's doubles), and Lanny Tria Mayasari/Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi (women's doubles).

Jonatan will start the fight against Jia Heng Jason Teh from Singapore, Sabar/Reza meet Chen Zhi Ray/Lin Yu Chieh from China Taipei, and Lanny/Amallia clash with the first seed Liu Sheng Shu/Tan Ning from China.
