The Provincial Government Prioritizes Economic Recovery of Markets in Tanah Gayo Aceh
BANDA ACEH - The Aceh government prioritizes or focuses entirely on efforts to recover the economic sector of the market for people in the highlands or Gayo land, Aceh after the flood and landslide disasters in late November 2025.
"Improving the economy in the market sector is a priority in the Central Aceh, Bener Meriah, and Gayo Lues regions so that people's trade routes return to normal," said the Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Aceh, M Nasir in Banda Aceh, Monday, January 12, reported by ANTARA.
M Nasir made the statement during a meeting with the heads of BUMD and other related agencies in the context of Aceh post-disaster recovery.
Nasir explained that this acceleration of recovery requires cross-sector collaboration. Therefore, all stakeholders, including Regional-Owned Enterprises (BUMD) and related institutions can synergize to improve the affected economic structure.
"The Aceh government invites all stakeholders in the field of BUMD and related agencies to focus on integrated post-disaster economic recovery," he said.
He explained, based on the data collected, the disaster had caused massive damage to the productive land of the community.
It is recorded that at least 56,652 hectares of rice fields and 100,376 hectares of plantation land have been damaged due to being submerged in floods and buried in landslides.
A similar condition occurred in the fisheries sector. Many fish ponds owned by residents were damaged, as well as the high mortality rate of fish due to the impact of floods and the death of the electricity supply, which disrupted the operation of the ponds.
Nasir explained that the economic conditions in several areas had been paralyzed completely. Such as Aceh Tamiang and Pidie Jaya, so they must get special attention.
Then, for the highlands, he emphasized the need for improvements in economic infrastructure in the market sector in Central Aceh Regency, Bener Meriah to Gayo Lues.
"Through strategic steps, we hope that the wheels of the community's economy, especially in the trade and plantation sectors, can immediately rise to maintain regional economic stability," said M Nasir.
