7 Houses Damaged by Landslides in Bayah Lebak

JAKARTA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Lebak Regency, Banten, said that there were seven houses that were damaged by landslides in Bayah District.

"Fortunately, the disaster did not cause any casualties or injuries," said the Head of the Lebak Regency BPBD Sukanta after conducting an inspection at the landslide disaster site in Lebak, Monday, January 12, reported by ANTARA.

According to him, the landslide that occurred in East Bayah Village actually hit ten houses, but three of them only suffered minor damage and until now the community has not been evacuated.

However, his party asked residents to remain vigilant because the rainfall in the next few days is still high.

After conducting an inspection, he said, his party would coordinate with the Lebak Regency Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUPR) Office for post-disaster handling.

"We will report the landslide disaster in Bayah District to the leadership so that it can be followed up," he said.

Meanwhile, Deni, one of the residents of Bayah Lebak Regency, admitted that his house had collapsed about five meters. However, it can still be occupied after the installation of a retaining wall with a sack containing sand.

"We hope that the local government will immediately build a turapatau or a bridge so that it does not slide again," he said.
