After the I National Congress, PDIP Re-emphasizes Being a Balancing Party for the Prabowo Government
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) again confirmed its position in the national government map through the reading of the External Recommendation of the 2026 I National Conference. They chose to be a balancing force to ensure that democracy continues to run as it should.
This was conveyed by the Chairman of the Aceh PDIP DPD, Jamaluddin Idham, when reading the points of external recommendations at the closing of the 2026 I National Working Meeting (Rakernas) at the Beach City International Stadium, Ancol, North Jakarta, Monday, January 12.
Jamaluddin said this decision was taken as a form of ideological responsibility so that the government would continue to run with a focus on the people's interests.
"The party's national congress confirms the political position as a balancing party to oversee the implementation of a democratic, just, and oriented towards the greatest welfare of the People in accordance with the ideals of Indonesian independence," said Jamaluddin.
PDIP stated that Indonesian democracy today requires critical and effective oversight. Thus, the party with the bangeng symbol is committed to strengthening the control mechanism over state power to prevent the concentration of power that has the potential to harm civil rights.
"The first National Congress of the Party affirms that improving the quality of Indonesian democracy requires the implementation of the functions of checks and balances of state power in a critical and effective manner through the institutionalization of political parties, equal and fair treatment for all political parties, reform of a just legal system, strengthening of civil society, freedom of the press, and protection of the rights of every citizen," said Jamaluddin.
The affirmation of this position as a counterweight is accompanied by a commitment to maintain freedom of association, assembly, and expression as guaranteed by the constitution.
The role of the balancer taken by the PDI Perjuangan is not merely an opposition without basis, but an institutionalization of democracy. So, Jamaluddin said, in the future every state policy can be held accountable to the people in a transparent manner.
"Every political step of the party must place ethics-morality and the ultimate truth as a guide, in order to ensure that the state does not deviate from the mandate of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia."
